TxO Math Bowl 2024 - Team Contest - Problem 27

An easter egg is hidden within a cell of the 6 \times 6 grid. You are trying to find it, so on any move you can dig up a cell in the grid. If the egg is in that cell, you win. If the cell is directly adjacent (sharing exactly one edge) to the cell with the egg, then you see a footprint. What is the minimum number of digs you have to make to guarantee a win?
